Laundry Disaster
I have heard of accidentally putting something red in with a load of whites and it turning everything pink but never have I heard of turning a whole load of laundry green.
And believe me I was not green with envy. LOL
Must be those blonde roots shining through again I just can't help myself they somehow every once in awhile just creep through my nice hue of brown hair.
Oh well I guess it added a little more character to that load of laundry.
** Note to Self** ------> Don't wash green tablecloth with load of light colored towels, dishcloths and socks again. ;;)

When Life Throws you Lemons
What does it really mean when life throws you lemons well it means that whatever life throws at you make the best of it.
Make the best of a bad situation and take the bitter and make it sweet.
Turn the negative into a positive.
- When life throws you lemons throw them back and demand chocolate.
- When life throws you lemons make grape juice.
- When life throws you lemons make lemonade.
- When life throws you lemons throw them at those who make your life sour. LOL!!
- When life hands you lemons make lemonade and find someone else who life handed vodka to, and have a party
- When life gives you lemons, ask for the receipt
- When life throws you lemons, duck.
Personally I like lemons even though they are sour and a little bitter they do have some sweetness to them. So when you are in a bad situation or experience, take those LEMONS and make the best thing out them that you can.

Flu Season Fun
Here are just a few hilarity's from patients as of late:
One guy says to me can I scream when you give my shot, so I say sure you can scream but if you scream I close my eyes and its a blind hit.
Another says is it going to hurt and I say well I will try to make it hurt the least amount I possibly can but somehow God didn't mark every nerve in your arm for me to miss them all.
Another person sits down for there shot and as I start to give them the injection proceeds wiggling all around moving there chair away from me and flailing their arm back and forth and I say you need to hold your arm still or I am going to end up stabbing myself in the hand.
And finally we were at a health fair doing cholesterol checks at a company that had a lot of Hispanics so we had to have a translator and this one guys numbers were off the charts. Way to high, so the Spanish interpreter said to the guy if you don't straighten up and improve your lifestyle you will be needing your coffin sooner rather than later.
LOL!! We have a lot of fun with most of our clients which makes the longer days a little more tolerable to bear.

Summer in the South
So far in the garden we have picked lettuce, chard and squash and a few banana peppers. Soon we will be picking beans, cucumbers and cherry tomatoes. I love eating the fresh veggies out of the garden but i do have to admit I don't always enjoy picking them. Especially green beans that is a long and time consuming task.
We soon will begin canning the beans that we pick, and making pickles, and when the tomatoes come in we will can homemade salsa and tomato sauce.
This year I have tried a new little venture in the garden and I am exploring with planting different herbs. We have so far planted dill, cilantro, oregano, basil, parsley, and rosemary.
We have recently discovered several kinds of baby birds in there nest so that has been interesting. A fox has been lurking around making all kinds of weird noises. Raccoons are starting to show there faces too and they have been leaving there little paw prints throughout the garden. They better stay out of my corn.
Snakes are moving around we have a copperhead that Ray spotted the other day. He tried to kill it but it got away to fast so it is still out there slithering around. Did I mention I don't like snakes. LOL!! :)
We have lots of flowers in bloom: Hollyhocks, sunflowers, day lilies, Zinnias are coming up as well as the cosmos and dahlias, Coreopsis is blooming.
So needless to say things are starting to get busy around here and by the looks of it they will be busy for the next few months.

An act of kindness
Recently I have been volunteering for a wonderful organization called Carolina Cancer Services. Some people say to me why should I volunteer.
Here are 5 reasons why I think everyone should volunteer at least once during there lifetime:
1. It's fun
2. To make an impact
3. It's an adventure
4. You always make new friends
5. It's free
When I volunteer I always feel great afterwards knowing I have helped someone else out. It always gives me a feeling of joy and peace. I love the feeling I get when those I have helped are so grateful, appreciative and just overall happy about making their situations just a little better.
And who knows you may one day volunteer for a place that could offer you a job and it could be the best job you have ever had in your whole life.
There are so many venues in which one can volunteer it doesn't always have to be with organizations where people are in need of medical help. It could be just about in any setting or place.
Habitat for Humanity-- Building houses for those in need
Cancer Services-- Providing help to those during chemo and radiation
Relay for life-- Walking for cancer
Meals on wheels-- Providing meals for seniors/ shut ins
Your local Soup kitchen--- for those who need a meal
Your local schools--as a tutor
Nursing Homes-- to do activities with seniors
The Humane Society
the list could just go on and on and on

Volunteering will lift you up!!!
Here are some awesome quotes about volunteering:
- There is no better exercise for your heart, Than reaching down and helping to lift someone up.
- Only when we give joyfully, without hesitation or thought of gain, can we truly know what love means.
- No act of kindness, no matter how small, is ever wasted.
- Through our willingness to help others we can learn to be happy rather than depressed.
- If you want to lift yourself up, lift up someone else.
- It's easy to make a buck. It's a lot tougher to make a difference.
- We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give.
- Those who bring sunshine to the lives of others cannot keep it from themselves.
- There are two ways of spreading light - to be the candle or the mirror that reflects it.
- The best way to find yourself, is to lose yourself in the service of others.
I want to continue to take action when opportunities arise for me to volunteer. Because when I volunteer I see more the ones I help making a difference in me than me making a difference in them. If that makes any sense.

To Someone very Special in My Life
Let me just tell you a little bit about this person and why she is so special to me. She is one who is always there for me, to cheer me up when I am blue, to cry with me when I am sad, to laugh with me when I am happy. This very special person came into my life several years ago and I am so glad she did because it always makes me wonder how different life would be if I had never come to know her as well as I do. She is one you can depend on, one who will stand up for you, one you can trust with your most precious secrets, and one who is honest when you ask her for an opinion. She has the biggest heart and has a lot to give.
She has the greatest sense of humor and is one of the best comedians I know.
And today is her birthday and I want to wish her a very very very Happy Birthday. Hope your day is as wonderful as you are. Which in my eyes is pretty fantabulously wonderful.
So I guess you are wondering who this person is:
Well her name is Heather and she is my bestest friend in the whole wide world and my sis.

Its your Choice
Me I have always been the optimistic type of person. Seeing the glass half full, seeing the good in every situation and everything. When you are optimistic you tend to look on the brighter side of life instead of the bad. Some people though just can't see it that way.
Have you ever spent a whole day with a pessimist and afterwards you just feel horrible and you feel emotionally drained because all day all there has been is negativity? I can't stand feeling like that.
So I thought in coming across those people lately that tend to drag us down and who are negative all the time, I would post some quotes for the Optimistic side of life.
I understand that everyone has a bad day once in a while but then if you are the optimist you usually just bounce back and become your cheerful, positive outlook on life kind of person again. :)
So here are some awesome quotes I have found:
It's better to be an optimist who is sometimes wrong than a pessimist who is always right
Nobody can go back and start a new beginning, but anyone can start today and make a new ending.”
“Perhaps our eyes need to be washed by our tears once in a while, so that we can see Life with a clearer view again.”
“Having a positive mental attitude is asking how something can be done rather than saying it can't be done.”
“Few things in the world are more powerful than a positive push. A smile. A word of optimism and hope. And you can do it when things are tough.”
“It's better to be an optimist who is sometimes wrong than a pessimist who is always right”
Always look at what you have left. Never look at what you have lost.
There's always sunshine after a storm!!!
In the middle of difficulty lies opportunity.
Reflect upon your blessings, of which every man has plenty, not on your past misfortunes, of which all men have some.
Optimism. The doctrine or belief that everything is beautiful, including what is ugly.

Another Crazy Day!
Let me give you an example: So today he had a low hemoglobin which means his Iron was low. So I was discussing ways with him to raise his iron. I told him to eat more iron enriched foods, or he could take iron pills or I told him that he could cook/heat his food in a cast iron skillet and the iron from the pan would absorb into the food. So he thought that was hilarious he said that is ridiculous that won't ever work. He said I have a better idea I could just go out to the barn and get a bucket of rusty nails and chew on those for awhile. I said yeah that could work too. So he just went on and on and on and was starting to get on my nerves but I didn't show it. So we continued talking and then he said to me you are crazy and I said look who is talking about crazy you are the one that is chewing on nails. So he just died laughing and said you are a alright girl you know that. I said thank you and then he left.
Patients like this can be very irritating or annoying if you don't know how to deal with them or how to take a joke but if you know how to deal with them then they can be really fun to work with. So I choose to be the one that jokes with them and gives it right back to them which makes for a better day and a day that is filled with fun, excitement and laughter. Instead of a day filled with boredom, gloom and grumpiness.
I know I have rambled on and on and probably not made a whole lot of sense but that's how I roll. :)
